Bruno gives a player perspective on the protests at the weekend

“Of course, for us, it was hard because we want to play football. This is what it's about for us. We prepared well for the big game and of course the chance to play in this kind of game is always good. The team was ready to play. It was a good week for us, we played really well against Roma before and the confidence was high. This type of thing, we have nothing to say about that. The fans have their own words and they think it was the best for them and they did it, and we have nothing to say on that. Our focus is on playing football and doing the best for the club.”

“It is not close with that because what happened at Sporting - not Sporting Lisbon, please - was completely different and was something between the fans and the players. Here, we have no problems with the fans. They don't come close to us. The problems the fans had at Sporting were to the players and it was really different to what happened to us on Sunday. Honestly, I don't want to compare because I don't want to remember what happened at Sporting; that has passed. From Sporting, I have just good memories and what happened on Sunday is passed; it is over. The most important thing for the team is to play now against Roma and we will see when we play against Liverpool. The most important is for the team to win games. For us, as players, all we want is to play.”

"I was in my room watching football because it was Udinese against Juventus. I never tried to come outside; no-one tried to go outside. We just did what security told us. We just stayed in our room. If someone tried to go out, I don't know. I didn't see anyone try and come out.”

Woodward says United are expecting more fans at Old Trafford next season

“Following the successful return of limited numbers at the end of last season, and continued trials of increased crowds at sports events this summer, we remain optimistic about the prospect of fans returning to Old Trafford in larger numbers going forwards,”

      United announce some financial results

      Figures for January to March

United made £118.3million compared to £123.7m for the same period last year.

Matchday, commercial and sponsorship revenue were all down by £27.5m, £10.5m and £8.9m respectively, but that was partly offset by a £32.6m increase in broadcasting revenue.

Matchday revenue fell from £29.1m to £1.6m compared to the previous equivalent quarter, with matches being held behind closed doors playing a part in the operating loss of £21.6m for the period.

The financial results also showed a £10.7m dividend payment to shareholders – payments United co-chairman Joel Glazer defended at a recent fans’ forum.

Financial results showed net debt stood at £443.5m....

We will be sharing United news on the Red News Home Page during the summer ...

News will be a bit more sporadic than normal as the media is mostly full of ridiculous (made up) transfer perspectives so isn't worth a second look, or more words from the Glazers promising action (rather than actually doing anything), or the hyped expectations for the nation's beloved national football team

Martin Keown questions if Ole is trusted by MUFC

“We’re used to seeing Manchester United win things,”

“It’s almost a rebirth of Manchester United but how long have we got to wait?

“Yes, the consistency and finishing second in the Premier League is probably what’s going to get him a new deal but when it comes to it you’ve got to have that way to win.”

“But following in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson, no one has been able to recreate that.

“They’ve had a succession of managers at the club but have not really been trusted and had a working relationship [with the club] and I do feel that with Ole.

“I do feel, when you look at it, he’s lucky to still be there really.

"He knows the standards that are being set and he can’t keep suffering disappointments, semi-final after semi-final, getting to finals.

“I do think he’s fortunate but this is the current day Manchester United.”...

So the football season is over and the transfer silly season has begun

Which means endless transfer speculation, rumour and a few lies no doubt thrown in to add to the drama of it all

First up we have the suggestion that Ronaldo may move from Juventus to MUFC

We also have the suggestion that Tom Heaton (the goalkeeper) will be another player to make a return to the club he once played for

Of course there is the ongoing Harry Kane story where United are supposedly on the list of clubs he'd be interrested in moving to.

Plus the ever present Sancho to MUFC speculation which is usually accompanied by some ridiculously large numbers for the transfer fee we are supposedly willing to spend despite needing to replace players in a few other positions....
