"This week there's been a lot of talk about Jadon Sancho moving to Manchester United, in his case, because he's English and Man United are in for you, I don't think he will think twice about moving there.

"I have said it before, he has the quality, the pace, the goals and the assists to play for them, I'm sure he would like to continue in the national team as well and Gareth Southgate will watch him more if he is playing in the Premier League.

"For me, if they get him he is going to be a great addition but I'm curious to see how they would line up. United have: Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and possibly Sancho next season, even though you want that competition for young players it could be tricky to see them all playing at the same time.

"If he is going to move somewhere else, he needs to know that he is going to play regularly, there is no point going somewhere else and not playing as much as you want.

"Ultimately, it is down to you, when you get the chance to show you can play, you have to take it and show what you can do.

"Also, when you play abroad you always want to go back to your home country. When that happens to be England and the Premier League, you're going to jump at the chance if the right team comes in for you.

"He could be a great addition, he needs to step up, play, score and advance to the next stage of development. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is slowly, but surely, building up a team of young players with a mix of experience.

"As we can see, it has been getting results, so it's good to see them moving in the right direction and if Sancho is next then it will be great for the team."

"I think Jack Grealish would do well at Manchester United,"

"He’s a commanding midfielder and the kind that they’ve missed recently.

"They have it now in Fernandes but having another one alongside him who could drive from the midfield – that’s Jack all over.

"But Jack can play in several different positions very well. He would do very well at Manchester United."

"There is every chance that Jack Grealish will join Man Unted in the summer. I don’t think that Jack will be at Villa come the end of the season

"He’s done a phenomenal job for them since he started out at the club.

"I played with him when I was at Villa, he was only a young lad, he used to come and train with us – he was a phenomenal player even then and he has gone from strength to strength.

"He’s taken everything on his shoulders at a young age. He’s a very young captain but has been very positive with it.

"He’s stayed at Villa a lot longer than a lot of people would have thought he would, so full credit to him. Villa will now get a decent fee for him and he’ll go on and make a stellar career."

“As in everything in life, nothing is defined by what a person has or had and won. I condemn myself because the best answer at that moment would have been to remain silent and he would have been practically talking to himself. But temper and hot blood almost never let me shut up,”

"Never have the values been as high as now. I think it is an exaggeration.

“My transfer, the values that were, bonuses and what may yet be, the amount that was paid for me was very high. Some players who were bought for this amount some time ago were Ballon d’Or [winners].”

“English football is different from all the others. In Portugal, if Sporting play against a smaller team, most of them close their defence. Here, the teams come to Old Trafford and it is different: they want to press, attack and take risks. The intensity of the game is very high,”

“In England you live football in the pure state. There are whistles, applause and songs. We go into the stadium to warm up and it’s empty. We come back from warm-up, it’s half full, and when we come back to play, it’s full.

“The tunnel cancels the noise and as soon as we leave the tunnel there is a noise, something creepy. The Theatre of Dreams is something incredible.”

“The first time I went to the national team it was he [Ronaldo] who came to me. ‘So, are you doing well at Sporting? You have scored a few goals’,”

“Just the fact that Cristiano is coming up to me and saying he is running well […] the fact of showing that he was attentive to the work that I was doing… you think: ‘How is it possible for such a player to be attentive.’ Of course, he was at Sporting, the club that formed him and for which he has great affection.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani won big trophies at United and that makes me want to have those trophies. Nani, with whom I had the opportunity to train at Sporting, has always told me good things about Manchester United.”

“I talked about that with him [Henry] recently,”

“We did some work together with Amazon Prime when they had the two games around Christmas time. I presumed he knew Martial because they’re from the same area in France so I asked him about Martial.

“I said, ‘What he’s like?’ and he looked at me with that look that he does as if to say: ‘Have I not already spoken to you about this?’

“And he said, ‘He’s exactly like I was when I came to Arsenal. He needs to go through the process like I did with you lot and I don’t know if the Manchester United dressing room is like that’. He said that was the making of him.

“To liken himself to Martial or another player to him, it really painted a picture of what Martial was like and what his character was like because he’s super-talented like Thierry was and I think his development would have been similar.

“I’m not saying he would have been as good as Thierry – but would have been similar if he had been in the old United dressing room with the characters like what we had in our dressing room. He certainly talks about that as a real learning lesson in his curve to get how brilliant he was.”

“No, we didn’t kick the ball and think what he was thinking in his head but we channeled it into the right areas at the right time and we wouldn’t put up with the stuff when he first came. His not training very hard, being a bit sulky… that wasn’t allowed.

“You’re not allowed to come into our workplace and be like that. It wasn’t a case of allowing him a certain amount of leeway here and there.

“It was: this is how it’s done, this is The Arsenal, this is how we dress, this is how we train and this is what we behave like.

“If you’re in, you’re in and you’ll be one of mates. if you’re not, you’re not. ‘I think that was a big thing for him.”
