“Being out of the Champions League is not something that is customary with United but we’ll fight hard and try and get as many points towards the end of the season and see where it leaves us. The Champions League is where we should be and if we don’t make it this year, which is going to be tough, then next season we have to make sure we put this year behind us and really make up for it. We all know it’s not been good enough this season. We’ve not really had that consistency. We’ve taken one step forward then two back too many times. It’s not really happened this season but if we can finish the season strongly, hopefully, it’ll be stronger than ever next season and we can prove the doubters wrong. We fought hard and it’s just disappointing that the time of their goals and the way they came about are things we’ll have to take on board. I think we stood up well in both games and had better chances than they did.”
