Bobby Charlton - My Manchester United Years
“It’s always disappointing to see a manager lose his job, especially one as good as David Moyes. I wouldn’t have expected him to be sacked from Manchester United after 10 months in the job. If you look back through the club’s history, something similar happened following Sit Matt Busby’s long reign. There were a succession of managers after he went until they found Sir Alex — and it even took him three years before he got it sorted. By doing what United have done with David, they could go down the same route as back then, which was a period of flux and decline until Sir Alex arrived. They need to learn from their history. I suspect the most disappointing aspect from his perspective was the way it was handled. For a start, players will always blame the manager. I don’t know why people listen to players when a manager goes because they invariably look after themselves.”
