Dear Reds, we need your help - https://fundrazr.com/RedNewsSupport

If you think what we do is important, then a subscription right now is a game changer for our future as an independent fanzine in the year ahead. No football = no games to sell at. We need your support now more than ever. We believe the terraces of Old Trafford and its culture is a little bit stronger when Red News is around, and that our fanzine still provides a strong voice, and a different take on supporting MUFC that is worth keeping.

So on our 33rd anniversary we are opening up our new advanced annual subscription campaign because without your subscriptions, we will not be able to continue, nor be around in 2021. With your support, we will. We pride ourselves on still being a voice for normal Reds just like you. For giving space for reasoned, well thought out opinion, and for the type of exclusives and gossip you know us well for. And to praise, or hold the club to account, where it is appropriate. To shine a light where it is needed. A different type of fanzine. But one that still holds the same principles as when we first started in April 1987.

We have weathered many storms, including a decline in matchday sales, and all the changes, both good or bad, at Old Trafford in our time, but events right now out of our control are different... We only survive because of our readers. Without advertising, you keep us alive.

If games are behind closed doors, we will still publish. We WILL still publish. If needs be we will make certain mags double issues every second month like our one will be in May 2020.

The target this summer is 333 Reds.

    Thank you - https://fundrazr.com/RedNewsSupport

"We're so proud of Marcus and I've said it a few times, what a great person he is, a great human being. He cares about so much more than himself and the work he's done it just shows that he cares so much about others than himself. So I'm very proud of him and hopefully he'll keep his personality for the rest of his life, just keep on being yourself.”

“Keep on doing what we have been doing. Just trust ourselves, trust yourself. You're at a club where it always boils down to the last couple of weeks or two or three games in the season anyway, so we've done fantastic since we restarted. We started with a draw against Tottenham of course, but then had a great run. Now that little bit of a setback is a test for mentalities.”

“Well, I think other people can debate that and will want to debate that. I don't think that's my job. My job is to make sure we focus on the next game and that we just do the right things. Financial Fair Play, I think it was brought in to keep football and football clubs financially sustainable and I think that's important, and they also give us rules to adhere to. So, that's what we're focusing on and let other people discuss what's right and wrong and what's happened.”

“I don't think that's my job to say if that's the best team, but, of course, we've played some good football, some enjoyable football. Now it's about consistency. We know we're privileged to play for this great club and represent this great club. There's a certain expectation on how we should play football and we're getting closer and closer to that type of team.”...

“Well, I think we've had a couple of things against teams that have shown that we're improving all the time. I think we can defend well at times. When you say defence, I look at the whole XI that's playing, because we start pressing from the front. Of course, there are not many teams that have created chances against us since the restart. We've pressed high, started with Anthony and Marcus, Mason, Bruno [Fernandes], fantastic energy up there. Then at the back end, you have David [De Gea], who had a fantastic save the other day. It's a different type of game for him now, he doesn't have so much do than he's had over the last few seasons, and I see the improvement all the time. Of course, we're disappointed that we conceded a late goal in the last seconds against Southampton, but that happens. Brandon was off, we played with 10 men, Southampton have got players who are seven-feet tall, a great delivery by [James] Ward-Prowse. Of course, we should have defended better, we're disappointed in it, but I'm very, very pleased with the development in the whole team.”

“It's great when you're a striker, scoring goals and feeling on top of your game; feeling fit and strong. Both of them [Martial and Rashford] are fit and strong.

“Mason as well, he's coming into the frame. He's not looked back since the restart and it's been fantastic to see them in the training ground as well. And the way they look for each other. It's like, is he in the better position or am I going to finish? They're all team players and it's been very positive.”

“He's definitely developing, improving and he's enjoying his football,” added Ole. “He's stepped it up as an individual and a team player and physically. I remember there were talks about our strikers being the least active but Anto is really working hard for the team, pressing from the front and he's a really quality finisher.”...

"I thought Anthony Martial was fantastic,"

"I think his endeavour, his work-rate… the talent has always been there.

"There’s always been questions marks about his work-rate and his desire but he’s definitely putting that right and he’s been the most surprising player for me [since the restart].

"I think he’s been fantastic. I think we’re seeing somebody on the cusp – if he keeps this going – of being a real elite number nine goalscorer.

"His attitude all night was a real positive for me."...

“I’ve been speaking more or less every day with Paul,”

“Of course he knows that he wouldn’t be dropped, but when Paul plays like this he wouldn’t be dropped from any team in the world – France or Man United.

“But he’s been out for a long, long time. There was a question mark before this game (against Southampton).

“‘How do you feel?’ and he felt ready for it and that was great, so now let’s see how he is today or even tomorrow morning.

“He’s been fantastic since the restart and brought a lot to the team.

“There were one or two question marks before the Southampton game about who was going to play but we made the decisions that we did.”...
